How Often do You Need To Renew Your Real Estate License in Kansas?

The Kansas Real Estate Commission requires licensees to renew their license every two years.

If you were licensed after January 1, 2019, you must renew your license on the 1st of the month, two years from the month your license was issued.

Example: If you were issued your license on June 17, 2020, your renewal date is June 1, 2022

If you were issued your real estate license before January 1, 2019, Your renewal date is based on the first letter of your last name.

If you are a licensed Salesperson or Broker with an active license, you must complete continuing education credits that equal a minimum of 12 hours. Nine (9) of the twelve hours may be on KREC-approved Continuing Education elective topics of your choosing.

If your real estate license has been inactive for two or more years, you must complete 12 hours of continuing education credits plus 6 hours for each full year your license has been inactive.

If your real estate license has been inactive for five or more years, you must pass your license exam and complete the continuing education requirements above.

Nonresident Requests for Approval of CE Credits

If you are a nonresident and hold a Kansas real estate license, you may be eligible to use elective hours earned in other jurisdictions for a course not listed in the Kansas Directory. You must have completed the elective course after the date your Kansas license was issued. The Continuing Education course must also have been completed within the current license renewal period.
